SAMPLE & SALE STOCK
We anticipate you needing at least 9 units of each wine for tasting stock for the even. Please allocate more than this if you only have 1 or 2 wines on tasting.
Sale stock is in addition to this. Please note that any leftover stock needs to be taken with you on event day. We can’t take responsibility for stock left in the venue post-event.

FOR THOSE OUTSIDE OF JAPAN BRINGING WINE OVER WITH THEM
Here is some great advice from Phillip Moraghan (at Shimora Koshu Wine, ex Curley Flat) on what winemakers should do when bringing in wine to the country:
“I thought I would share a bit of advice for participants travelling to Japan, based on our frequent trips there, in particular regard to carry samples of wines as part of luggage.
It is advisable to declare all wines carried to Japanese Customs
Duty is payable, and must be paid in cash, at the time of entry – thus participants should get some Japanese Yen before departing in order to reduce any confusion, participants should generate an ‘invoice’ for the wines carried. The invoice should look ‘official’ and is best to be invoiced to the passenger, along the lines of “Trade Samples for Japanese Trip” with the number of bottles noted; best to show each category/brand/vintage separately. It is also best to create the invoice in Japanese Yen, to remove the currency conversion step. Given that they are trade samples, even if not your own label, the price per bottle does not have to be market value. I usually create an invoice based on 1,000 yen per bottle.
The duty on a dozen bottles could be in the order of 4,000 yen; it seems to vary each time we do. I think the variance may be dependent on who the official is”
He also recommends courier services for both wine and luggage. Meaning when you arrive you can simply courier your bags / wine to your hotel directly. Easy!
You can also do this one the way back to the hotel.
Two options are below from either Narita or Haneda Airport.

TASTING. NOT A DRINKING
We hate tokens as we believe it not only takes away from the customer experience, it limits them in the amount of wines they have access to. So all tastes are included in the ticket price.
However, please note, this is a wine ‘tasting’, not a ‘drinking’ so please ensure you pour a max of 15ml per person. This minimises wastage, spittoon maintenance and, most importantly, helps us manage intoxication issues. Less wine, less wastage, less issues. We recommend using slow pourers.
